The Core Challenges

Our client developed a connected product that connects Enterprise Gateway (EG), a tool to process surveillance with 24/7 Data Logging and Monitoring. The EG acts as a gateway to manage the end devices that are installed across the manufacturing facilities. Until now, the client deployed the product on the end-customer’s location, thereby managing enormous volume of EG data on-premises. But, the existing system lacked scalability capabilities to handle more number of such devices and increased amount of data as well.

With the existing system, the client & the end-customers were unable to view the data in real-time, in order to track & monitor measurement & control data including Temperature, Humidity, Dew point or Pressure. There were no Remote Asset management capabilities to keep a watch on the end-devices at pre-scheduled intervals. Also, a notification engine was a miss in the system, one that could alert end-customers in case of abnormal conditions. The existing product lacked scalability to handle more than 1 enterprise gateway per customer.

To overcome all these challenges and offer better service to its customers, the client wanted a scalable cloud-based platform that connects its Enterprise Gateways securely and reliably to the Cloud. For this, the company was looking for a reputed Industrial IoT company that offers consulting and development services as well as have a strong experience working with manufacturing clients.

Building Custom Industrial IoT platform using AWS

AWS IoT Rule Engine, Lamda, Amazon RDS SQL, Elastic Beanstalk, SQS Queue & QuickSight

Our expertise in developing IoT solutions for asset-intensive industries has helped build a high-end 'Industrial Internet of Things' solution for our leading American Manufacturing client. Our AWS consultants developed the solution that connects & manages EGs, handles large volume of data and provides real-time data visibility.

AWS IoT Core was leveraged to connect EGs and AWS JavaScript SDKs were used to ingest data coming-in from various connected end-devices via MQTT protocol. Using AWS IoT Core enabled better security in comparison to an on-premise version and enabled reliable bidirectional communication among the EGs. Data processing, data transformation, and data aggregation was developed in Microsoft .NET using Visual Studio toolkit for AWS IoT. Amazon S3 stores the data and Amazon QuickSight was leveraged to visualize the stored data.

With the rich experience in building IoT solutions, our teams build custom IIoT platform that supports a robust data management system architecture. It handles enormous volume of data coming-in from connected end-devices. Also, it hosts an automated email notifications engine that sends alerts on abnormal conditions regarding temperature threshold values, dead devices, device malfunctioning and many more specific events.

End-devices can now be connected to each Enterprise Gateway (EG) and the platform operates with data collection frequency of 1min to an hr.

Result

Connect multiple Enterprise Gateways (EG)

to the Cloud, where each EG can handle up to 30 end-devices.

IIoT platform houses millions of data records/data

by supporting device management & smart data management capabilities.

Enables real-time visibility

of measurement & control data to prevent equipment failure before it happens.
