A Leading Media Broadcaster Company wanted a scalable, secured, and manageable Cloud solution to handle large amount of discrete media files and data.

  • 600 CONCURRENT REQUESTS/SECOND
  • 50 MB MEDIA FILE/ REQUEST
  • 1.5 TB STORAGE CAPACITY
  • 93% STORAGE REDUCTION COSTS

Our Results

We leveraged Cloud solution that handles up to 1000 concurrent requests/minute and supports media file size of average 50 MB per request totaling to 10Gb data/day. Our solution enabled the client to cut data storage costs from $7000 to $500 per month, and have the application ready to ‘go live’ in a record three months.

Business Need

Our client is a leading Media Broadcaster Company based in Germany. They already had Azure based web and hybrid mobile applications with limited architectural support for unstructured data. As many users around Germany access the application every second to upload or manage media files, they wanted to upgrade their existing application with auto-provisioning and auto scalability capabilities to perform-well upon demand.

They needed an application that can handle larger user load so as to allow them to upload audio, video or image files of any size and of any type. A suitable storage platform for User Generated Content (UGC), CMS was required to handle discrete media files and user data at minimal storage cost and for faster data access. The client needed the application to process at least 500 concurrent requests per second and to support attached media file size of 50Mb per request.

Technology Solution

Apache Jmeter Tool, Cloud Services, Cloud Storage, Azure Health Monitor, Azure Traffic Manager, Azure Active Directory, Azure Search

Saviant provided a technology solution with a host of Azure Services as background processes to upgrade their existing system. We leveraged multiple storage options from Azure’s stable, including Azure Blobs, Table Storage, Document DB, and SQL database to store incoming media files and user data in respective datasets. The storage platform was architected to handle up to 1000 concurrent requests per minute with storage capacity of 10 GB per day.

Our Azure consultants leveraged a combination of tools, test methodologies and best practices to meet the client’s requirement and business goals. The Apache Jmeter tool was used to test the load, stress and endurance aspects of the developed application. With a planned testing strategy, we have successfully analyzed various parameters including maximum user load, throughput, and response time before the application was ready for deployment.

This cloud application fulfilled the client’s requirement of processing 600 concurrent requests per minute and supporting any media file per each request. A maximum storage capacity of 4000 GB data per month has been achieved through our test methodologies. The developed and tested cloud application was ready to ‘go live’ in a record three months and also enabled client to reduce the data storage costs from $7000 to $500 per month.
